Kelly Tansor: PianoGuerin Prep and UIC alum Kelly Tansor is a classically trained pianist who studied piano throughout a majority of her life. From the moment Kelly's fingers touched the keys she knew she had discovered what it feels to be passionate about something. Her love of music evolved tremendously while studying under Ellen Bartolozzi's teaching. Her broad taste in music covers different genres including pop, rock, classical, indie, and (though she would never admit it) maybe even a little country.
Kelly is no stranger to teaching. As a Guerin Prep student, she tutored math to fellow students. She is also great with kids - just ask her four younger sisters! In addition to playing piano for 20 years, Kelly has had years of experience with singing as well. Her training started with church choir, then school choir, and eventually musicals in high school. She now frequents open mics, always looking for the next chance to show off her vocal chops. Chances are, if you have ever driven past her, you have seen her sing to her steering wheel! Kelly, a graduate of UIC with a B.A. in Communications and Psychology, believes there is no more powerful message to send out to the masses than the power of music. Her love of learning seems to have no end; she has taught music theory – something she enjoys “nerding out” about with her students – as well as ukulele. In fact, teaching herself the ukulele got her through some tough times, and she now teaches ukulele in the hopes of spreading the same joy she received when she was first learning. Kelly has played at The Brown Cow in Forest Park, Kicker’s Bar in Schiller Park, and Two Chef’s in Bensenville. She has performed with fellow Bella instructor Julio Cuomo, and with acts such as The Acme Blues Band. She also has two original EP’s under her belt – look her up on Bandcamp. |
I would highly recommend Bella Angel Music to anyone looking to take music or singing lessons. The teachers are great, and the students seem to learn a lot and improve their music skills, regardless of how much experience they've had. |
